Admission is allowed to a maximum of 35 students per academic year, including a maximum of 10 students educated outside Europe (EU), and a maximum of 6 students internal to SNS.
An official selection procedure is yearly managed by University of Pisa, with two distinct sections for extra-EU and EU candidates: deadlines fall typically around mid-February and mid-August, respectively. The official call for admission (academic year 2025/26) is expected to come out by the end of the year: it will be published in the University web pages and linked in this page. If interested, you can have a look at the call for the past academic year here.
Selected candidates typically own a BSc in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics and related disciplines. Selection is carried out by an appointed Selection Committee via a two-step procedure:
- the first step, based on the analysis of the curriculum vitae, the transcript of records, and other required documents, aims at verifying the minimal curricular requirements and defining the list of candidates admitted to the interview and their rank;
- the second step, based on an interview held remotely in case of foreign candidates, aims at verifying the personal preparation of the candidates, as well as their motivations and goals.
